You may be well-versed in Hyundai models such as the Sante Fe Sport or the Elantra. But it’s time to get better acquainted with the Hyundai Ioniq.
The plan from the beginning for Hyundai was that we would eventually see three distinct models all share the name Ioniq. It appears that has happened and we now have the new Plug-In Hybrid model of the Ioniq to be part of the lineup and offer us more of what we’re looking for when it’s time to have a vehicle that can be perfect for you to have the drive you want when you head out on the roads on a daily basis. As the market moves forward, the Ioniq is a trio lineup that gives you the choices you can expect in the future of the automotive industry.
Typically, a model only offers you one or two choices that are hybrid or EV models for the drive, but the Ioniq was built to make sure you could have a typical hybrid, an EV model, and a plug-in hybrid that blends the two to make sure you can have the drive needed. This means you’ll be happy to choose the Ioniq when you’re looking for a vehicle that’s built to be more efficient and offer some sustainability on the roads that we drive every day.
What this New Model Offers
The new Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid model is a vehicle that shows up with a new EV range of more than 29 miles for the drive. This may not reach the levels of some of the other PHEV models on the market, but it does offer enough driving for many people to only drive using the EV power on many days. This car is rated at 119 MPGe in the EV model and reaches as much as 52 mpg when it used the hybrid powertrain, making it an efficient model that barely sips the gasoline.
The power for this model comes from the 8.9-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and a 1.6-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine that can offer you 104 horsepower and 109 lb.-ft. of torque. The sixty horsepower electric motor used in this model can operate the car at speeds up to 75 mph, making it possible to head out on the highway when needed and make use of nothing more than EV power during the drive. This model also shows up with LED headlights, a charging port on the left fender, and specially designed 16-inch wheels that are made for this car to make it look different from the regular hybrid model.
With the unveiling of this new model for the drive, the other two Ioniq models are also upgraded to give you more of what you want. The Hybrid model adds paddle shifters, lane keep assist, lane departure warnings, and a new red exterior color to the mix while the Ioniq Electric has been simplified to only two trim levels, Electric and Limited.
Now we have a trio of Ioniq models that can be used for the drive to ensure we can have the right model on the road when we’re looking for a hybrid or electric model for the drive. With the new Plug-In Hybrid, we have the best of both and can enjoy the drive that never ends and sips the fuel as we head down the road to wherever our destination may be.
