Recently, BMW filed a trademark application for a larger performance vehicle to be one that would join the lineup and be the BMW M7.
While the question may be whether or not this is a necessary model that will be added, the fact is, BMW isn’t backing down when it comes to performance and they’re looking for more ways to offer us the M Performance we want when it’s time to head out on the road or to the track.
A Great Lineup Could Gain a Cherry
Right now, the 7 Series lineup is one that you certainly can’t sneeze at. Near the top of the line from BMW, the 7 Series includes the M760i which is a powerful, amazing, and aggressive car that brings the heat and the price. This car is powered by a V12 engine that pumps out 600 horsepower for the drive. This is a car that can reach sixty mph in only 3.6 seconds and offers the power you want when you’re ready to head out for a drive. Right now, this is a car that seems like it would be hard to top if BMW were to create an M7.
Looking Deeper at What the BMW M7 Could Be
Right now, the M760i is a car that shows up at a price of $156,000, which means we’re not looking at the bargain level of the market. The engine under the hood of this car is used in the Roll-Royce models as well, and it actually pumps out 625 ponies in the Wraith and 605 horsepower for the Dawn. This tells us there’s more power to be brought form this strong V12 to make it even better and more attractive for the M7.
Get a Big Power Plant in the BMW M7
How far could the BMW team go to create an M7 that will offer us the power we want? Of course, the M Division of BMW could tune-up and address the power of this engine and might find a way to reach over 700 horsepower for the drive we want to enjoy. The question that would arise is whether or not a V12 is still the right choice for a performance luxury car that’s also supposed to be active and agile on the road and not just one that can drive with power in a straight line.
Maybe a V8 is All the BMW M7 Needs
With the thought that a V12 might be too much weight for the M7, the current power plant used by the M5 could be tuned up and used. This is a 4.4-liter V8 that is already rumored to make more than 600 horsepower in the 8 Series, which also could lead us to an M8 from this brand. While the trademark filing only covers the M7, nothing is out of the realm of possibilities when it comes to the drive and the fun we want to have when it’s time to head out on the road and have the driving pleasure on the road.
