There’s no disputing the fact that the Tesla Model S is the most successful and admired electric sports sedans on the market. This luxury-laden vehicle has shown that it can perform extremely well and take on the challenge of being the car that leads the way, which is why nearly every automaker is looking to create a true competitor for this vehicle. Volkswagen seems to be the readiest to handle the challenge with their new I. D. sub-brand that will offer a variety of excellent models over the next several years including what could be a model worthy of challenging the Model S.
The new Aero-e
The announcement that Volkswagen was going to produce nearly thirty new EV models over the next several years to give us a completely new lineup by the year 2025 made us all wonder if this was a public relations ploy or if they were serious. Since that announcement, Volkswagen has been able to show us several new models that are planned for release to the market at the beginning of their I. D. sub-brand. In addition to these new models, we may see the new Aero-e which will be a sports sedan powered by electricity to give us the car from VW to challenge Tesla.
The new MEB modular electric platform is made to be versatile enough for the smallest of hatchbacks which will be the first I. D. model we see, on up to the newest version of the Microbus. By the year 2023, we will not only see a new Aero-e but the Crozz crossover with the size that we love the enjoy on the road. Add the hatchback, the Microbus, and the Lounge to the group and you see the direction VW is headed with their new brand.
The new Lounge is a longer wheelbase three-row SUV that will give families the size desired but the new Aero-e is the car that’s most impressive and anticipated for this lineup. You can expect this new car to carry a sleek design and sharp look that will be amazing on the road that we want to drive. By the time the Aero-e hits the road, the Model S will be eleven years old and make us wonder if Tesla knows how to bring about a new model to head into a second generation for the next version of a model.

The few models mentioned aren’t exactly the ones that will give you the complete thirty vehicles we’re going to see as they head out of the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee but this will easily be a start to what we want to have on the road. If this brand is successful and we do see these new models with the EV powertrains for the drive from VW, we’re going to have a new set of electric models that compete in a different way on our market. Until this bring begins production and we see them on the road, we can sit back and wonder which other brands will be brazen enough to challenge the Tesla Model S dominance.
