Adding More Means Adding More

Adding More Means Adding More

Have you ever brought home an item that’s supposed to add more to your home only to find out you need to change other things to coordinate with what you’ve brought home from the store? This happens all the time, you buy a new couch and realize you need a new rug, new curtains, new artwork, and new tables in the room. The same can happen in the automotive world when more is offered for a model but that model that brings more for the drive leaves a gap with the rest of the lineup that shares the same name.
Recently, Ford showed up at the Detroit Auto Show with the new Ford Edge ST model and is expected to offer us a similar version of the Explorer called the Explorer ST model as well. In addition to offering us more power and performance for the drive, the Edge ST is packed with impressive equipment to make the drive comfortable and more compliant for you so that you can experience the absolute top of the lineup from Ford and have an SUV from the blue oval brand that could be considered a luxury model.

Needing to Add More

As the team at Ford looked around once the new Edge ST was built, they realized there was a need for more. The Edge ST is offered with a large number of improvements over the current Edge Titanium. In fact, the number of added features and qualities for this model over the Titanium trim are such that it left a huge gap between the two which has made it possible for Ford to bring about a new trim level that will slide in between the Titanium and the ST models in the lineup to give us an Edge that fills the gap.

At the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, we will see the new Ford Edge Titanium Elite. This SUV is the gap filler that gives us a unique rear fascia, 20-inch wheels, and body colored sides to be a model that looks like it belongs next to the Edge ST. This model will be powered by either the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the 3.5-liter V6 while leaving the ST engine to the ST so that we have something to look forward to with the model that’s at the very top of the Edge lineup that we can drive.

Even though it feels like the new Ford Edge Titanium Elite is only a small step above the Titanium and below the ST, it’s an important step. This addition to the lineup is expected to build on the momentum that we see in the Ford Edge. Last year, 142,603 models of the Ford Edge were sold and with two new models offered to give us more of what we want, the 2018 sales could show a significant increase over the numbers from the previous year. We will get to see what this new trim is and how it’s equipped when it shows off in Chicago later this month. The Edge Titanium Elite is expected to be part of the market later this year to give us the options we want for the drive.
