The Kia that’s Ready for the Challenge

The Kia that’s Ready for the Challenge

The EV market is still relatively small, the writing is on the wall and all automakers are reading it including the Kia brand.

The future of driving has to do with lower emissions and more EV models on the road. Right now, there are two true EVs in the affordable area of the market which is the Chevrolet Bolt and the Nissan Leaf. While we wait for Tesla to figure out how to make the Model 3 compete with these two, another player will enter the game and offer us pure EV driving at an affordable price and range we can enjoy.

Enter the Kia Niro EV

The new Kia Niro EV will go on sale in the US in the early part of 2019 and become the third in the mix of true EV models that bring us the range we want at the price that we can afford. This new EV is expected to be offered at a price that starts at less than $40,000 and will qualify for the full $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, making this a car that’s even more affordable. This impressive small and active car is made to give you everything you’re looking for in a car you can drive every day.

Powering the Ride

When the Kia Niro EV shows up, it will bring with it a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers a 201 horsepower electric motor. This setup is able to give you an estimated 239 miles of driving range to ensure you’ve got plenty of miles for the day. If you choose the available 100 kW fast-charger, the battery pack can be charged to 80 percent of the capacity in less than an hour. There’s also a smaller 39.2 kWh battery pack that offers you 153 miles of driving, which is still fairly respectable.

Features You Want for the Drive

Not only is the new Kia Niro EV a model you can admire and enjoy every day, but it also brings you some of the most advanced technology for your drive as well. You’ll see a 7.0-inch touchscreen in the center of the console, a 7.0-inch LCD driver’s display, wireless smartphone charging, and much more. The infotainment and gauge system keep tabs on your driving range and work to locate nearby charging stations to make sure you know where you need to go if it’s time to fill up the batteries.

More for Your Drive from Kia

The early part of 2019 will bring us the EV market that we want and desire. It’s time for there to be more EV models for us to enjoy driving and be able to experience on the road. The new Kia Niro EV is going to give us the range we’re looking for and at least a third option for the drive. Look for more information regarding this impressive small EV over the next few months and then visit your nearby Kia dealer when this impressive small car arrives and is available for you.
