The Missing Piece of the Kia Lineup

The Missing Piece of the Kia Lineup

When you take a look at what Kia offers for the drive do you see a glaring omission to what this brand has to offer? At the top of the SUV lineup, we don’t see a full-size SUV for the experience of bringing more people along for the ride when we want to head out. This team has shown us a concept in the past that would be able to fill this area of the market when Kia gave us a look at the Telluride Concept model at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Here we are two years past that particular show and we still haven’t seen this model make its way to production. Instead, we’ve seen the Kia brand bring us more of the small and active hybrid models for the drive along with the new and exciting Stinger that has captured our attention. Even though we’ve not seen the Telluride head to the market, doesn’t mean the team at Kia hasn’t been working to find a way to bring this SUV to the market. In fact, this is one of the models we can see when it comes to the future of the lineup.

Where Will We See the Telluride?

Kia may be hesitant to bring this model to the global marketplace because of the previous failure of the Borrego which was only a failure because it was offered at the same time that gas prices were skyrocketing out of control. Now that we’ve seen other three-row models emerge with the new Volkswagen Atlas and Subaru Ascent, it solidifies the potential for the Kia team to bring a new three-row full-size SUV to the world and let us have a great drive in a vehicle that can fit everyone and everything we need with us on the road.

Right now, it appears this new model will make its way to Australia to be part of the lineup, but no word has yet been offered to let us know whether or not a full-size SUV will be added to the North American market. Even if Kia is slow to develop and release the new Telluride around the world, bringing a full-size SUV back to the lineup can be the right choice for the Kia brand in order to give us a vehicle that looks and performs the way we want when it’s time to get out on the road and trails for a drive.

The concept model we saw offered in 2016 was powered by a hybrid 3.5-liter V6 that showed off with 400 horsepower, which could easily make this the right powertrain for the drive in many different markets around the world. While we don’t know whether or not this SUV will continue to wear the Telluride name or if it will have a hybrid powertrain when it makes its way to production, offering this model will fill what has become a glaring omission in the Kia lineup and allow us to have a larger and more capable vehicle to drive.

Looking for a slightly different SUV that packs in a good amount of power? Opt for the GMC Yukon and prepare to be impressed.
