The small, classic, and funky Honda Urban EV that was shown off in concept form several months ago is coming closer to becoming a production model.
The debut of the new Honda e Prototype took place recently and shows us a vehicle that’s much more representative of what the brand would be able to offer as a production vehicle. This new reveal came with the information that the production version would begin to be built in Europe later this year and be sold shortly after, giving us a new EV model to consider when we want to drive an electric model.
More Details are Offered by Honda
Originally, when the Urban EV Concept showed up, the style, the classic appearance that blends well with futuristic lines, was enough to keep us distracted from the fact that we didn’t have any performance date to go along with this concept model. With this new revealing of the Honda e Concept, we do receive some information. The expected range of this EV on a single charge is more than 200km and it’s expected to be able to recharge to 80 percent capacity in thirty minutes using a fast charge system.
The new Honda e Concept keeps some of the square stance of the original model and its set up to be a RWD model that can be fun to drive and easy to enjoy. The modern minimalistic style that we saw in the first model will carry forward and give us a cabin that has clean lines and a fresh feeling. There’s a wide triple-screen display that will cover the entire width of the dashboard which is offset by wood trim to give you the blend you want of the classic trim and the future technology.
New Ways to Access from Honda
Most of the vehicles we drive require humps and bumps in the cabin area to make room for the drivetrain underneath. The Honda e Concept doesn’t require this. There’s a perfectly flat floor that makes it easy to have the walk-through access you’re sure to enjoy and be able to set your feet comfortably on the floor even if you sit in the middle seat in the rear. No more “center hump” for the person who ends up in this middle seat in the rear of the vehicle. This simple change makes it a comfortable vehicle to ride in.
Look for More from Honda
As the first EV model on this platform from Honda, the Honda e Concept will be one that offers you the electric qualities and drive that you want for the ride that makes sense in a world that’s moving toward electric driving. The Honda e has gained a set of doors over the Urban EV Concept and the side view cameras that were shown on the original concept are expected to make their way to the production model as well. We’ll have more details as we move closer to the on-sale date for this new car. Until then, Honda does offer a hybrid in the Insight, and a zippy, fuel efficient subcompact in the Honda Fit. If you’re into cars that are small and efficient, these do nicely.
