More from Hyundai at the Entry Level

If you thought Hyundai was done creating entry-level crossover SUVs and offering them to us, you’d be wrong. Although the Kona is sized right and slots in the smallest class of SUVs on the market, the Hyundai team has found a way to bring us another model that will find a way to slot below the Kona. This new SUV will be called the Venue and it will be presented to us later in the month at the New York Auto Show. Until this time, we get to talk about what this new Venue will bring.

The Venue is Coming for 2020

The limits of how much legroom and cargo space can be offered in an SUV have not been explored until now. Can you still call the vehicle an SUV if it has less of this than some sedans? The new Hyundai Venue will allow us to explore that thought process and learn whether or not we can do this. This SUV has a funky shape and offers a value that will appeal to a large part of the audience looking for a small vehicle that isn’t a sedan but isn’t a large and lumbering SUV either.

Targeting the City Dwellers

Sales of the Hyundai Kona and Tucson have shown us that we desire these smaller SUVs from this brand. The Kona quickly reached numbers that were at or above 5,000 models per month and the Tucson found a way to reach as many as 10,000 models per month. Now, Hyundai is targeting those who spend all their time driving in the city and want a small vehicle that has the qualities of an SUV to meet their driving needs. The new Venue could be exactly what these shoppers are looking for.

The Size Question Comes to Mind

During a teaser video of the Hyundai Venue, it’s hard to tell if the vehicle has two or four doors. If it has only two, this could be a model that shares the Veloster platform but has a larger size to it. While we don’t know the details of this vehicle, we do know that its only 163.9 inches long, which is only about twelve inches longer than a Mini Cooper, just to give you an idea of the length of this new SUV. The questions we have will be answered soon.

A Lot to Ask

The New York Auto Show may be a flurry of questions when the Hyundai Venue appears. This new small crossover SUV will offer us the smallest in the market and we’re going to want to know a lot about this vehicle. So far, we don’t know about the powertrains, the release date, or the equipment that will be part of the mix, but we’ll have the opportunity to ask about all these items in the next few weeks. Until then, we’ll have to be satisfied to know that Hyundai is ready to offer a new, small, crossover SUV that we might want to drive.
