The Ford Mustang is one of the most historically significant and impressive muscle cars on the market. While many of the muscle cars of the 1960s and 1970s didn’t survive to be part of what we see on the market today, the Mustang has been able to make it to be one of our favorites. This car looks like a lot of fun to drive, and it certainly can be. The Mustang has been one of the most customized cars on the market, and it’s been set up to meet a variety of different challenges over the years.
What You Don’t Normally See at Nurburgring
Most of the time, automakers look to improve their lap times around the fabled Nurburgring test track in Germany by offering special versions of the cars that we love to drive. Every class of car has some record time for a lap around this track, which weaves its way through the German countryside for 12.9 miles of exhilarating driving that can challenge both the driver and the car that works to make the fastest time around the track to give us something special to talk about.
What if You’re a Drifting Expert?
If you’re the drifting champing and you’re given a Ford Mustang that’s been set up to make drifting more fun, wouldn’t you put your skills to the test? That’s exactly what Vaughn Gittin Jr. did with the Mustang he was offered to drive. This car is a 900 horsepower RTR Ford Mustang drift car that Gittin has for racing and for fun on the tracks that he visits on a regular basis. Taking a drift car to Nurburgring seems to be a bit sacrilegious, but when you see the video below, you won’t care about this at all.
Inspiring, but Revealing Reality
As you see the video, you can feel the excitement of the drive, enjoy the sounds of the car as it changes planes and uses the gears and the brakes to squeal the tires and show off what the car can do and how it can twist and turn on the track that’s made to be sprinted on. While the video is really cool, the fact is, it’s a video. Gittin admitted, and you should expect to know this, that several sets of tires were used to do the video, and the car spun out a few times on the track.
Make Your Mustang Driving Fun
Whether you choose to drive the Ford Mustang to show off when you find an open stretch of pavement or you want to test your own skills at the track, seeing a champion such as Gittin on this track, turning rubber into smoke, should make you excited to see what your car can do. The Ford Mustang is a car that’s truly built to be fun, and if you have one of your own, or you purchase one in the near future, you owe it to yourself and the car to find that fun.
