The official release of the popular 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation hit GMC dealer locations across the country in the fall of 2021. This pickup truck went through some significant upgrades, including new exterior accents, a completely refreshed interior, tons of new tech, and countless other improvements.
The Sierra 1500 comes in six different trim levels along with various other configurations. You can choose between three cabins (regular, double, and crew), three-bed lengths, and five engines. Not every choice is available with every configuration, but there are plenty of combinations to create the truck of your dreams.
Welcome to Elevation
One of the more interesting trim options is the Elevation model. This trim is still considered an entry-level model, but it comes with some pretty impressive features that still come at a great price.
The original idea for the Elevation model was to encourage customers to elevate to the opt-of-the-line Denali trim. In a sense, this model was meant to be a stepping stone for drivers to move up the trim level as they upgrade their Sierras over the years.
The Elevation trim also serves as a great gateway to the GMC brand. It works as a bridge between the economically-priced lower-level trims and more expensive upper-level models. This model ends up being a great option for someone who wants tons of features but isn’t ready to make the jump into the top-level Denali.
What To Expect With the New Trim
The 2022 Sierra 1500 Elevation comes equipped with a 2.7-liter inline-four turbocharged engine that produces 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an updated eight-speed automatic transmission.
Shoppers can also opt for a 5.3-liter V8 or 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 engine. Both of these are connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
Beyond providing a slew of powerful engine options, the Elevation model comes with a monochromatic exterior trim treatment, specialized 20-inch wheels, and a gloss-black grille.
There are some other perks that you’ll see on the Elevation trim:
- Six-speaker audio system
- Black recovery hooks
- A 110-volt AC power outlet
- Power-adjustable and heated side mirrors
- A remote locking tailgate
- Remote keyless entry
- And more
Where Else Can You Find This Trim?
While the GMC Sierra 1500 is the most popular option at your local GMC dealer with the Elevation trim, it’s not the only choice. The GMC Canyon also offers this incredible model. The difference is that the Sierra Elevation is a distinct trim. The GMC Canyon offers the Elevation as an aesthetics package that can come on the SLE Crew Cab, Short Box Body Style.
The Canyon’s Elevation add-on only costs about $650 on top of the regular price of the SLE trim ($34,840). There is some talk about the Canyon getting its own Elevation trim, but nothing official has been announced.
It may not be long before we see other options at your local GMC dealer that share the name “Elevation.”
