Ford Blue Cruise

If you are thinking of buying a new Ford, this is something you do not want to miss out on. Ford BlueCruise3 hands-free driver-assist technology is the future of Ford travel and might just be the thing to enhance your driving experience. As cars surge forward technologically, it is important to consider what new and improved qualities a car might have. New Ford vehicles coming in 2022 have a lot more to offer, and this new technology is something worth taking a closer look at.

So, what exactly is Ford BlueCruise 3 hands-free driver-assist technology? Formerly known as Active Drive Assist, this newly improved technology sets the pace for true, hands-free driving. Have you ever dreamt of driving in your car without having your hands on the wheel at all times? Well, that time is here and Ford is the one providing this amazing opportunity.

What does Ford BlueCruise3 do?

Ford BlueCruise3 builds upon two key assets: Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition. The Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering system keeps the vehicle going the same speed and in the center of the lane by detecting the lane markings around it. The Speed Sign Recognition system is able to read speed signs on the side of the road and will adjust the vehicle’s speed according to the speed limit. These features can be disabled if the driver does not find them useful.

For now, those who have BlueCruise3 can enjoy this benefit on a limited number of highways called Hands-Free Blue Zones. But don’t worry, those prequalified zones cover up to 130,000 miles of North American roads. As is the case with new technology, BlueCruise3 will be limited to these roads. Rest assured, as more Ford drivers familiarize themselves with the technology, so will more roads and highways be open to utilizing this amazing asset.

How does it work?

Ford vehicles, such as the Ford Expedition, will be able to tell when they are driving in a Hands-free Blue Zone. How do they do this? BlueCruise3 uses blue lighting on the digital instrument cluster to indicate when the car is in one of these areas.

How does BlueCruise3 keep passengers safe?

While using this hands-free technology, it is most important to take into account the safety of the driver and the passengers. That is why there is a front-facing camera in front of the driver that can tell if the driver is paying attention to the road or not. This camera is able to tell if the driver is actively looking at the road or not. If the driver is failing to be attentive to the road, the system will alert the driver that he or she needs to focus on the road. If the driver fails to do this, the system will automatically slow down to idle speed, ensuring the driver is paying attention to the road at all times.

Ford enthusiasts will soon be able to find this technology in the 2022 versions of the Ford F-150 and the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
