Hyundai’s N performance sub-brand is not new, but they are stepping up their game with the N Vision 74. This concept car is giving people a lot to get excited about, and many hope this exact car or something similar will go into production. With almost an 80’s exterior style but a super modern twist, this supercar is unlike any Hyundai you’ve ever seen unless you remember the Pony Coupe concept. N Vision 74: Powered by Hydrogen
The N Vision 74 is a concept car built on an advanced hydrogen fuel cell, and the exterior design is more than just for looks. It has functional aesthetics integrated into the design to manage the heat from the fuel cell. Engineers worked to find the perfect balance between performance and cooling and came up with a three-channel cooling system.
Twin motors send power to the rear wheels, but this is just the start. The N Vision 74 is one of the first concept vehicles to test out e-TVTM, which stands for electronic Torque Vectoring by Twin Motors. This design uses 235 kW motors on each rear wheel to enhance cornering ability. In addition to the handling, these two motors combine to generate 580 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. This is enough power to give this Hyundai a top speed of 155 mph, and it can hit 60 mph in just four seconds.
Remembering the Hyundai Pony Coupe
The Pony Coupe was a concept car from 1974. It was designed and developed by designer Giorgietto Giugiaro. This concept was promising and was even built into prototypes for a Hyundai sports car but never reached production. The Pony Coupe was just the beginning, though, and set Hyundai’s future into motion. Now, 50 years later, the N Vision 74 has an exterior look inspired by the Pony Coupe but with new modern technology.
If you don’t remember the Pony Coupe, you might remember the DeLorean. If you’re wondering why the N Vision 74 looks familiar, it’s because it looks a lot like the DeLorean. If it weren’t for the prominent Hyundai badging and modern design elements, you might mistake it for the Back to the Future car.
Interior Space for Drivers Who Love Driving
The N Vision 74’s cabin is a mix of old and new. It has a fully digital gauge cluster in front of the driver, but the dash has a mix of physical knobs and switches. Hyundai is keeping the interior under wraps, with no pictures to get a better idea of what’s in there. We might just have to wait until it’s ready for Hyundai dealerships to get a better look.
