The GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox may have the same bones underneath all their features, but once you get into the details, these small crossover SUVs have different appearances and presence on the road. Take a closer look at the GMC Terrain vs. Chevy Equinox and see how they are similar but also very different.

A Distinct Exterior Design

The exterior design is where you’ll see the most significant differences between the Terrain and Equinox. The Terrain has a bolder, more muscular front end with C-shaped front-end lighting and LED headlights and taillights. The Equinox, on the other hand, has a sleek headlight design and a more aerodynamic front end. The Terrain has a hands-free power liftgate as a standard feature if you step up to the SLT trim, and this model also has roof rails. A power liftgate is optional for the Chevrolet Equinox. You can also get the Terrain AT4 with some off-road equipment, including skid plates.

Interior Size and Features

The Terrain and Equinox are very similar sizes. They both have room for five, with plenty of head and legroom. With the upscale Terrain, you’ll get a few more comfort and convenience features at the lower trim levels, but many of these are also available with the Equinox. Just a step up to the Terrain SLT gets you leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, and driver’s seat memory settings. You can get all these in the Equinox, but they come in the higher-end Premier trim.

Technology for Fun and Convenience

Everyone likes to stay connected these days, especially when they are on the road. The Terrain and the Equinox make it easy with their standard 7-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Want a larger screen? An 8-inch touchscreen is available for both SUVs, and you can get a 120-volt power outlet and navigation.

The GMC Terrain Denali Trim Provides the Ultimate Luxury Experience

One thing you can get with the Terrain but not with the Equinox is the Denali. This GMC model is known for its upscale look and feel and its high-end features. The Terrain Denali delivers with its wireless charging pad, integrated navigation system, and premium Bose stereo with HD radio. Features unique to the GMC Terrain Denali include special 19-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded suspension with an advanced shock control system, and standard all-wheel drive. But it doesn’t end there with the Denali. The optional Denali Premium Package adds ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera system, and a parking assist system that can park the Terrain without help from the driver in both parallel and perpendicular spots.

GMC Terrain vs. Chevy Equinox: Choose Your Ride

While the GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox have many similarities, the Terrain edges out the Equinox with its more upscale exterior look and interior features, added technology features, and safety systems. Upgrade your ride with a new or used Terrain.
