The new 2024 Lexus TX is a legitimate three-row luxury crossover sharing a platform with the new Toyota Grand Highlander. This new Lexus SUV changes the game.
Lexus shoppers have clamored for a real three-row crossover SUV. For years, the GX and LX were offered, but these two large SUVs were not crossovers but body-on-frame trucklike SUV. Then came the RX L, which added some length and a third-row seat to the RX, but this was simple pacification and not a real solution. The solution is finally here in the form of the new TX.
Lexus adds real comfort to all three rows
Instead of another midsize crossover with very little space in the rearmost row, this new Lexus SUV brings tons of space for passengers of all sizes. Everyone riding inside the TX can find a comfortable seat to enjoy the drive and experience a great feeling out on the road. Lexus pulled out all the stops to make this SUV a smooth, comfortable, and high-quality place for a drive. If you need some cargo space for your groceries, the kids’ backpacks, or a few other items, you’ll find 20.1 cubic feet of space behind the third row.
Some style shows off, other aspects are more subtle
The face of the new Lexus TX features a classic spindle grille, but this grille is completed in a body-color treatment with a chrome bar in the center. The headlights are sharply angled with long lines and a short finish that points upward. These elements give the front face an incredible look that’s showy and impressive. The rear offers a more subtle look to the rear LED taillights. This red strip of lights spans the full width of the vehicle and is much less distinctive. This subtle look in the rear is elegant and ideal for this large and impressive SUV.
The powertrain question is finally answered
From the time we learned the new TX was on the docket, the question of which powertrains would be offered loomed large. This new Lexus SUV brings three impressive powertrains to give us excellent driving power and efficiency. The TX350 is the base model, and it brings a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 275 horsepower through the 10-speed automatic transmission to offer either FWD or AWD.
Next, we have the TX500h, which is offered in the F Sport Performance trim, which gives you 362 horsepower while using the same turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors. This power routes to all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also find 22-inch wheels, rear-wheel steering, and adaptive tampers in the TX500h. This SUV delivers 24 mpg combined, which is great for an SUV this big.
Finally, a plug-in hybrid powertrain sits at the top of the range. This model is the TX550h+, and it makes use of a 3.5-liter V6 gas engine and electric motors to produce 406 horsepower. This PHEV model reaches 30 mpg combined and has a 33-mile all-electric driving range when the batteries are fully charged. Power for the TX550h+ is sent to all four wheels through a CVT.
The interior is all Lexus
The new Lexus TX differentiates itself from the Toyota sibling with features that you don’t find from the mainstream brand. You’ll enjoy a large 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an optional gauge cluster, and an impressive head-up display. The style and materials used on the seats and throughout the cabin ensure you’ll never confuse this impressive Lexus SUV for the Toyota model. Choose from three interior colors, which are Peppercorn, Birch, and Black, to enjoy the look you want whenever you hit the road.
Other important aspects of the cabin area include the Digital Latch, which allows owners to open the door with the touch of a button. Once open, a welcome array of multi-colored lights brings you into the cabin to give you a great look. As you might expect, wireless connectivity awaits you in the infotainment system, as does a 21-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System to give you the high-quality sound desired during your drive.
Every passenger in the new Lexus TX has access to storage and charging ports with seven USB ports and three power outlets to ensure your passengers can stay connected and utilize their devices. The second row offers an available center console when captain’s chairs are present, offering extra storage for items.
Will the 2024 Lexus TX be the luxury three-row SUV you love to drive every day? Once it hits dealerships, this could be the top SUV in the luxury vehicle market.
