A Look at the 2024 Hyundai Electric Vehicle Lineup

If you’re looking for a 2024 electric vehicle, your Hyundai dealer should have a nice lineup to choose from this year. Hyundai quickly got into the EV game, and the automaker now makes the Ioniq 6 compact sedan, the Ioniq 5 compact SUV, and the Kona Electric. Coming soon are the Nexo and Ioniq 7. Let’s take a look at the three that are out now.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a compact sedan with a lot to offer. Some pros include fast recharging, an eco-friendly interior, and a one-pedal drive mode. The all-electric Ioniq 6 shares many mechanicals with the Ioniq 5 crossover, but it’s in a four-door sedan layout. Compared to the crossover, the Ioniq 6 features a more aerodynamic shape, which helps extend its range on a full charge.

The base trim of the Ioniq 6 uses a single rear electric motor and it makes 149 horsepower. The range for this model is 240 miles. Higher trims have a larger battery pack, which delivers 225 horsepower from a single electric motor. The range for this model is rated at 361 miles with 18-inch wheels. If you opt for 20-inch wheels, the range goes down to 305.

On the higher trims with the larger battery, you can also equip AWD, which adds a second motor. This setup delivers 320 horsepower and is good for 316 miles on 18-inch wheels and 270 miles on 20-inch wheels.

The Ioniq 5 compact SUV is similar to the sedan in many ways, but its shape is different. It also includes a one-pedal drive mode and fast battery recharging. The cabin is spacious and features many premium materials. Some downsides to this model include the lack of a rear windshield wiper on most trims and it can get expensive as you move up the model range.

For a long time, no automaker could decently compete with Tesla in the areas that buyers wanted. The Ioniq 5 changed all that when it debuted. The Hyundai EV is cheaper than its Tesla counterpart, but it also charges fast, offers more features, has a quieter cabin, and a nicer interior. Its range is comparable to the Tesla Model Y as well.

Base Ioniq 5 models use a 58-kWh battery to power a single rear motor with 168 horsepower and is rated for 220 miles of range. The higher trims get a larger battery and can be had in either a single-motor layout or a dual-motor AWD layout. The single motor makes 225 horsepower in this setup and gets 303 miles of range. The AWD makes 320 horsepower and gets 260 miles of range.

2024 Hyundai Kona Electric

Outside of the Ioniq electric vehicle lineup, buyers should also look at the Kona Electric. Available at your Hyundai dealer next to the regular Kona, the Kona Electric offers a spacious cabin, two powertrain options, and a futuristic interior design. The 2024 Kona Electric has been redesigned for 2024.

Like the Ioniq models, the Kona Electric offers two battery options. The standard battery makes 133 horsepower and is rated for 197 miles of range. The long-range battery increases horsepower to 201 and should deliver up to 260 miles of range.
