The community you live in can benefit from your old car when you make a car donation to the right organization in Minnesota.

If you no longer want to drive the car you’ve got sitting in your driveway, you can turn this car into a tax deduction for you and a new ride for someone else. Even if your old car no longer runs, it can make a difference to several people in your community.

Where Should You Donate Your Car?

While there are many worthy causes and organizations that could use your old car for transportation or for the scrap value of the vehicle, the place to go where your old car will be used to make a difference is the Newgate School. This is a school that is also a nonprofit organization that can make use of your old car in several different ways.

Your Car Donation in Minnesota Can Teach Students

The Newgate School is a school where the next generation of automotive technicians are trained and certified to work on a variety of vehicles. These students take your old car and learn how to correct what’s wrong with it and create a plan to make it work again. Even if your old car isn’t going to function at all, these students can learn why it’s not working and what caused it to become inoperable.

Students Don’t Pay at Newgate

You can make your car donation in Minnesota to the Newgate School and know you’re helping this school. All students attend this school tuition-free. Since it was founded in 1982, this school has been self-sustaining and it continues to offer free tuition through the car donations that come in from generous people like you. Your old car makes a huge difference to these students.

If your old car is in good shape and runs well, the staff at the Newgate School will train the students to fix it and make it completely useable again. Many of the cars that are in great condition are sold at auction to raise money for this school. The school is able to maintain its self-sustaining status through these auctions, which makes it possible for low-income adults to find a career they can enjoy for a lifetime.

Your Car Donation in Minnesota Could Help a Family

Some cars that are donated to the Newgate School are turned into another donation. Don’t think of it as regifting, think of it as up-gifting. The students at the Newgate School will inspect your old car and perform the necessary maintenance or repairs to make it a reliable and useful vehicle. The car is then donated to a worthy cause to offer transportation to those who need it.

Who Needs Transportation the Most?

Make a car donation in Minnesota and make a difference. Can you imagine being a single mother in the winter and not owning a vehicle? When you need to get your kids to the doctor because they are sick or head to work, you have to rely on public transportation, which just doesn’t get the job done most of the time.

Thankfully, the team at the Newgate School has partnered with the Wheels for Women program. This program provides cars to single mothers to give them the freedom that comes with having a vehicle that can be great on the road. These families can then get where they need to go whenever they need to, all because you donated your old car to a school that can make the most of it.

The Title Work is Easier than You Expect

If you’ve talked to family and friends about donating your old car, it’s likely you’ve heard that completing the title work is difficult. Thankfully, when you make a car donation in Minnesota to the Newgate School, you won’t have to worry about it. The staff at this school are trained to handle all title work and will provide you with the tax deduction certificate you need to file with your taxes at the end of the year.
