Hyundai is proof of that, with two of the most popular models in the field: the Hyundai Venue and the Hyundai Kona.

It should come as no surprise that Hyundai is high on the idea of continued small SUV superiority. Let the latest of the small crossovers from the Korean Car Kings—the 2021 Kona and 2021 Venue prove that.

Let’s look at the Hyundai Venue versus it’s (slightly) larger contemporary, the Hyundai Kona.

2021 Hyundai Venue

The Venue is Hyundai’s smallest of their subcompact SUV offerings. For the sake of scale, think of the Hyundai Accent, whose chassis the Venue resides upon.

2021 Hyundai Kona

The Kona is an extra subcompact SUV from Hyundai, positioned in size between the Venue and the Tucson.

It debuted in 2017, and the 2021 model is being branded as a “Small SUV, upgraded.”

There are some nice perks that come standard with the Kona that you won’t find within the competition.

If you go with the Kona’s top-tier trim, the N Line, you’ll have no need for regrets.

With a starting price just above the $25K threshold you’ll get some excellent amenities.

The N-Line’s standards are high. The two’s interior size is only a three cubic foot difference.

If your budget dictates accounting for every dollar, then the Venue is the way to go. As you’ll save around $2K with the entry class MSRP alone.

If you want a bit more room to wiggle your toes, the Kona, as mentioned, features a modest amount of extra room. The space doesn’t hamper the MPG either, as the Kona has the Venue beat in that department.

Since the field of comparison is such a tight one between the Kona vs. Venue, it may come down to aesthetics.

The 2021 Kona has a front end and grill reminiscent of the Ford Focus. With sleek design and visual flow, the front headlights stand out. The headlight’s LED glow bursts forth from its squinted style.

The 2021 Venue calls to mind the Kia Sole.

It’s a bit boxy at first glance, but not too much so. It’s stylish enough to be sporty, thanks to its low-slung body.

As if too muddy the waters of decision further, the price points for both are far from “pricey.”

In fact, these two crossovers are so close, the best way to decide might be via a coin toss.
