If you’ve never heard about the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, you might be surprised to learn that it is the single fastest Corvette in the history of this iconic vehicle. Chevy wanted to design and build a car that could handle the ludicrous speeds of the race track as well as the mundane task of a daily commute. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 didn’t just accomplish these tasks, but it also raised the bar on the kind of performance this American auto manufacturer could offer.

How Fast Is the Chevy Corvette ZR1?

Determining a car’s top speed isn’t as simple as finding a straight, open road and hitting the gas, although this is certainly a fun test. Most top speeds are found by clocking a vehicle in multiple directions and using the average as the official top speed.

Chevy took its ZR1 to the Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany. This testing site has a massive 7.6-mile racing oval that completely dwarfs the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 2.6-mile track.

The vehicle is then run with the wind and then again against the wind. When the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 completed this multi-step task, it clocked in with a top speed of 212 miles per hour. No other Corvette in history has been able to achieve this feat.

Of course, when the ZR1 was going with the wind, it reached 215 mph, making it even more impressive. This sports car can go from zero to 60 seconds in a mere three seconds.

What’s Under The Hood?

If you’re wondering what powers a car that can move this fast, you’ll be happy to learn that the Corvette ZR1 is packing a 6.2-liter V8 engine. This beast produces 755 horsepower that goes straight to its rear-wheel-drive drivetrain. You’ll also enjoy 715 lb-ft of torque, which is the most powerful in the entire history of Chevrolet.

To get the most out of your ZR1, make sure to go with the optional wing piece that helps add up to 950 pounds of downforce. You’ll also want to go with the manual transmission to enjoy a more responsive shifting experience.

Performance Upgrades Available

With the available ZTK Performance upgrade package, you might forget that you’re on a regular road and not the racetrack. This upgrade package contains a suite of amazing features that only wants to make you drive more.

Beyond the dashboard, you’ll enjoy luxurious comforts like leather-wrapped seats. Treat yourself to the best by opting for the sport seats that also come in a leather-wrapped option.
