When it comes to lists for the top used SUVs, the Honda CR-V is a common entry. Honda’s original crossover blends excellent fuel economy with reliability, plenty of room inside, and affordability. The CR-V was recently redesigned in 2017, so you can get a fairly modern version of the CR-V without paying the price of a brand new model.

The RAV4 should also never be left out of a list of used SUVs. Toyota’s small crossover is actually credited as the first car-like SUV that would eventually launch the crossover craze. The RAV4 features good fuel economy, a wide variety of powertrain choices, and one of the best resale values. The price tag of the RAV4 is pretty reasonable as a new vehicle, but you can find even better deals on the used market if you go back about five years.

The Nissan Rogue isn’t the CR-V or RAV4, but that also means it costs a lot less on the used market than these entries from Honda and Toyota. The Rogue still has a lot to offer to buyers looking for used SUVs, with a comfortable ride, plenty of cargo space, great gas mileage, and a bevy of standard tech features.

The Hyundai Tucson is an excellent entry from the Korean automaker known for pumping out affordable and reliable vehicles. The Tucson has a lot to offer even in a competitive field with entries from Honda and Toyota. Not only does it deliver desirable features like good fuel economy and plenty of room, but it has top-notch reliability ratings and the best warranty in the business.

The Ford Explorer is a consistent best-seller among used SUVs. As a midsize SUV, it meets the needs of a lot of buyers who want room, power, and good towing ability. Good deals can be found on used Explorer models between 2016 and 2019, which were all models with mid-cycle refreshes.

The Kia Sorento is quite the affordable SUV when it’s brand new, which means you can really get a good deal when you look at used SUVs. The Sorento stays competitive with bigger names in this list by offering a roomy interior, good gas mileage, a smooth ride, and an optional V6 engine for those who need more power.

This list only scratches the surface of the many affordable used SUVs out there. The SUV and crossover categories are the most popular in America, and they continue to be in high demand both used and new.

Toyota RAV4
