But it’s still critical information to keep in mind.

That’s why, if you’re shopping for a new truck, it’s time to look at the top three trucks for towing large RVs that have come out in 2022.

Ford F-250: the All-Around Best Truck for Hard Workers

While smaller RVs can be hauled by nearly any truck, large ones can weigh as much as 30,000 pounds – which means you’ll need a real heavy-duty truck to get them from Point A to Point B. Ford’s F-250 Super Duty trucks are designed for just that.

The average F-250 with a 6.2-liter V8 engine can tow over 16,000 pounds, but upgrading to a 6.7 or 7.3-liter engine can increase towing capacity to about 21,000. To make towing even easier, Ford offers a Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Blind Spot Information System so you can hitch and back up effortlessly at the RV dealer and always be able to see what’s near your RV while on the road.

Ford F-250s start at $36,000 and come with the high safety ratings, reliability, and warranties that Ford is known for.

Chevy Silverado 2500: Back to the Basics with Low Pricing

The Chevy Silverado hasn’t changed much between last year and this one, and that may not be a bad thing. A standard cab with a 6.6-liter V8 engine allows for 14,500 lbs of towing, while a turbo diesel engine of the same size bumps it up to nearly 19,000. Unlike other models, the manufacturer says the Silverado shouldn’t use a 5th wheel hitch, which can limit its hauling ability.

Chevrolet offers a technology package that gives you 15 different camera views so you can get the best view of your RV or trailer while hitching and hauling. And the base model is the cheapest on this list at $35,000!

Ram 2500: the Height of Luxury Truck Hauling

Ram 2500s are one of the more expensive, luxurious models of heavy-duty trucks, starting around $38,000 for a base model. Its max towing capacity using a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine is over 17,000 lbs, while the optional 6.7-liter turbo diesel I6 engine increases that number to 20,000.

Ram 2500s also have vital hauling technology. There’s a rearview mirror that displays a live feed from the rear bumper camera for easy back viewing, tire pressure monitoring for your trailer or RV, and an optional rear air suspension with bed lowering mode to make hooking up a trailer easy when you’re at the RV dealer or campsite.

Making the most of your RV starts with getting a good truck to haul it around with. Try asking about how well these three trucks can work with your new trailer next time you’re discussing options at your local RV dealer!

The last thing you expect to think of when looking at a trailer with your RV dealer is what size truck you need to have to be able to tow your new RV around.
