A new 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition brings special features and qualities while also providing you with fitting elements to celebrate the end of the LS.

Lexus just announced the 2026 LS500 Heritage Edition, and it looks like this might be the luxury sedan’s swan song. After decades of competing with the German big hitters, the LS is getting a proper send-off with exclusive styling touches, upgraded features, and all the AWD capability you’d expect from a flagship. We’ll walk through what makes this Heritage Edition special, why Lexus is probably saying goodbye to the LS nameplate, and what this tells us about where luxury sedans are headed. If you’ve been a fan of the LS since the original changed the game back in 1989, this one’s going to hit differently.

Luxury exclusivity in the sendoff

Lexus has quietly been saying goodbye to the LS, and now the LS500 final edition will be the last of the Lexus flagship sedan models to be made. The luxury sedan market loses a stalwart competitor that has been going up against German rivals since 1989. The Lexus LS history began more than three decades ago, and now the Lexus Heritage Edition features that will make you miss it as the large sedan bows out of existence. In an exclusive manner, allowing buyers to feel extra special, there will only be 250 versions of this final LS produced for 2026.

The 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition is the only LS

Unless you live in an area where many exclusive cars are purchased, you probably won’t see this final LS model on the dealership lot at Lexus. Instead, it is more likely to be an order-only car meeting the demands of a small group of drivers willing to pay $99,280 for the final Lexus LS. The 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition is a fitting way for the brand to celebrate the swan song for its flagship sedan.

The right power for your drive

Luxury car trends show many automakers moving to smaller engines and even hybrid vehicles. Lexus has embraced hybrid tech for years, but this final model of the LS500 doesn’t have a hybrid powertrain. Instead, this Lexus LS500 is an AWD model using a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that produces 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This big and heavy sedan can reach 60 MPH in only 5.0 seconds and finishes a quarter-mile run in 13.3 seconds at 107 MPH, making it respectably quick.

The Heritage model rides on a set of 20-inch wheels with a classic 20-spoke design. These wheels look great with any paint scheme, but especially with the Ninety Noir paint color which is the only color for this final LS.

Red upholstery for the 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition

Lexus has never used Roja Red upholstery for the Lexus LS, but it will for this final model. This marks it as a send-off model, but the red upholstery has been used in other Lexus models, especially those with a sporty bend to them. There’s a silhouette of the LS embroidered in the headrests to mark this as a final model.

While enjoying the gorgeous red upholstery, you can listen to some amazing sounds coming out of the 23-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, which is the perfect sound system for such a large and luxurious car.

Comfort where you want it

The Lexus LS has always been a comfortable full-size sedan, and this final model is no exception. The seats are comfortable, supportive, and made of high-quality materials to give you the pure luxury feeling you want. The rear seats are spacious and padded to make it easy for your passengers to be comfortable during their time in this impressive car. The trunk is large, but the rear seatbacks are fixed, which means you don’t have a pass-through into the cabin for longer or bulkier items.

No more hybrid LS models

If you’re looking for the LS500h version of this car, you’ve missed out. The final year for the hybrid LS was 2025, and it’s no longer offered. The new 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition comes fully loaded, which makes sense considering the limited number being built and the increase over the base price from last year of nearly $18,000.

Will you choose the final 2026 Lexus LS500 Heritage Edition to be the large and luxurious sedan you drive and enjoy? It only comes one way, which takes all the choices out of buying it, but its also very limited, expensive, and exclusive, meaning you’ve got to be one of the 250 lucky shoppers to buy this car.
