As we look at different luxury brands and what they happen to offer, the Cadillac brand is one that shows up with very little for us to enjoy and admire in the SUV lineup. Most of the competitors to the Cadillac name offer three or more SUVs for us to choose from while Cadillac only shows us the large Escalade and the XT5 which is the midsize crossover SUV. These two play in seriously different parts of the market, but the Cadillac XT5 is the model that gave us a thought that more would become since the name was changed from SRX when it was time to enjoy the new model and generation.
Because this team changed the name and made room for more models to join the lineup, we expect to see Cadillac bring us more of what we want when it’s time for the ride on the roads and trails in the area you live in. The next model we’ll see from Cadillac is going to be the XT4 which will fit below the XT5 in the lineup to make sure we can have a compact crossover SUV that will be great for the ride.
The Testing Continues
The new XT4 has been out on the roads in Michigan testing to see what it will be when it arrived. Although the Cadillac team has worked hard to disguise what this SUV will be when it shows up, there are some aspects that are discernable on this SUV. The most recent XT4 prototype that was spotted showed off the grill and at least one of the vertically-mounted taillights to give us a peek into what this SUV will offer. Certainly, we continue to look forward to what this new SUV will be as Cadillac works to increase their lineup for our driving experience.
What we do know about the new XT4 is the fact that it will ride on the new modular C1XX platform and have the power of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood. This engine will make 270 horsepower as we’ve seen in the ATS and CTS sedans from this brand. We expect to see the nine-speed automatic transmission attached to the engine and AWD to be offered as an option you can choose if this is the SUV that you’ll want to drive on a daily basis wherever you need to go.
The latest version of the CUE infotainment system should be the connectivity choice you see in the new XT4 along with a wide array of active and passive safety features that can be right for you to have the drive you need. This new SUV is expected to make its debut later this year, potentially at the 2018 New York Auto Show which will take place in the latter part of March. Until then, we’ll have to be satisfied looking at the camouflaged spy shots that give us a glimpse at what the XT5 might be going forward.
