The Kia Stinger GT

The Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra N is loaded with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes a solid 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque. When the race started, the Stinger jumped off the line and took a sizable lead. This wasn’t much of a surprise to onlookers. What caught everyone’s attention was how the Elantra kept pace with the Stinger. It even gained on it just before crossing the finish line.
The second race had both cars start from a rolling position. The Stinger was again able to get a better start, but it couldn’t actually pull away. The Elantra was able to keep the pace with the Stinger, and the two crossed the finish line at virtually the same time.
The results of these two races surprised those who looked only at the performance specs. The Stinger’s larger engine produces much more horsepower than does the Elantra N’s engine. This disparity might make you think that the Stinger would win every race by a mile. The Stinger weighs about 700 pounds more than the Elantra N, which plays into the results. While the Elantra can’t jump off the line as fast, it proves that it’s able to keep up. It might even win a longer race where it has time to get going.
