Genesis XV: A New Hope for Luxury EVs Rivaling Lamborghini Urus Performante

Genesis XV: A New Hope for Luxury EVs Rivaling Lamborghini Urus Performante

Can Genesis create an SUV on the same level as the Lamborghini Urus Performante? They are trying with a creation called the Genesis XV.

Genesis has taken aim at the luxury car world and continues to take down all competitors. This relatively new luxury brand makes other brands like Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz shake in their proverbial boots. Now, this Korean luxury name takes aim at the high-performance world with a new concept SUV that could take on the Lamborghini Urus in its top Performante trim level. This might be nothing more than a pipe dream, but Genesis is willing to try.

Styling that fits the Genesis lineup

The XV features a styling package that fits into the current lineup while incorporating aspects from the X Speedium Coupe Concept and X Convertible Concept modes. This brings much more character to the already extroverted Genesis SUV. The front of the XV features a 3D mesh pattern finished in black paint, giving this area of the SUV a sinister look that you’re sure to admire. Another cool aspect of the front is the transparent hood area that shows off the orange high-voltage cables, giving this EV a bit of a powerful appearance.

The wheel arches have a new look that hasn’t been part of any Genesis SUV in the past. These arches feature a sharp, jagged design inspired by the jet engine of an airplane. This is a new quality that makes this SUV look amazing.

Like many modern and futuristic vehicles, the new Genesis XV features slim cameras instead of side view mirrors. This enables the angular lines and creases to continue down the sides of the SUV without interruption.

Another unique element of this new Genesis SUV is the two-door build. This might take from the utility aspect of this vehicle, but it’s made to go against the Urus, so all rules get tossed out the window. The two-door layout sports thick C-pillars made of two thick triangles that connect.

Finally, when you get to the back of this new SUV, you’ll find full-width LED light bars, black accents, and a 3D mesh pattern. This gives the rear a cool look that mirrors the front grille.

Will Genesis bring this EV to the market?

The new Genesis XV is nothing more than a concept electric SUV at the moment. Genesis isn’t prepared to bring this futuristic vehicle to the market yet and might not know where a customer base for such an SUV exists. Still, the idea of a new electric SUV that could undercut the price of the Lamborghini Urus by several thousand dollars while delivering exciting performance is intriguing.

The other end of the Genesis EV spectrum

While we know very little about the XV and what might power it, we know quite a bit about the new Genesis GV60, which is the smallest electric SUV in the Genesis lineup. This new model hits the market for the 2024 model year, ready to deliver up to 483 horsepower and 294 miles of driving range to be competitive in an ever-growing EV SUV category.

The new RWD Standard trim provides the longest driving range in the GV60 lineup, coming close to the 300-mile mark that’s quickly becoming an industry standard. The mid-range Advance trim has a driving range of 264 miles, which is 16 miles more than the previous model year. This range increase is thanks to the 19-inch wheels, which replace the 20-inch wheels. The Performance model still rides on 21-inch wheels and provides up to 235 miles of driving range.

Which GV60 should you buy?

The middle Advanced trim is the best value in the Genesis GV60 lineup. This model offers 314 horsepower and a decent driving range, making it the right model in the middle of the pack. The Advanced model comes with features you want to enjoy, including:

  • Bang & Olufsen audio system
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Full package of driving assistance features

Can the GV60 charge quickly?

If you aren’t sure about the Genesis GV60 because of the limited driving range, the fast charging time might change your mind. When plugged into a DC fast-charging station, the GV60 can recharge from 10 to 80 percent of its capacity in only 18 minutes. That’s a pretty fast charging time, making it easy to keep the road trip going when you drive this electric SUV.

Will we learn more about the Genesis XV Concept? If this new electric SUV is expected to provide Lamborghini-level performance, it will be nearly impossible for Genesis to keep things secretive. Hopefully, we’ll have actual performance data soon.
