While we can understand the challenge automakers have to bring vehicles from their home country to the US, especially if the vehicle is first built as one that has the steering wheel on the right side of the car. This along with the stricter emissions regulations in the US makes it difficult for some automakers to justify the added cost to bring a vehicle to our shores, but we have something to offer that many other countries, especially those in Europe, don’t have as much of to offer. We have a large expanse of open country with roads that reach from one ocean to the other to enjoy the drive.
Because of the large expanse of driving areas that can be enjoyed in the US, we are an attractive place to have cars offered, and as more countries have begun to raise their regulations, we aren’t as far apart from other nations any longer. One company that has been offering us their lineup for many years and will now bring the sub-brand to the US as well is Volvo. The new Polestar brand will make its way to the US as one of the first countries that will enjoy the benefits of this performance brand.
The Polestar Plan
As the new halo performance coupe, called the One, the launch will take place from the Polestar brand in China, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the US. In these markets, an interested shopper will be able to make use of the Polestar Space feature which shows the car in a physical space for you to review and enjoy the car and what it will offer. These Polestar Spaces will open in the middle of the 2019 calendar year and the locations will be chosen on the basis of customer interest in the brand.
The early production of models for this brand will be limited because of the complexity of the assembly of the models that will be part of the Polestar brand. This is because of the carbon fiber bodies that have to be mated to the steel Volvo platform which means the production is only ever expected to be at a limit of 500 per year at the very most. This allows the brand to be a limited and certainly special brand that will offer us the performance that will put a huge smile on our faces as we drive.
Those who want to own the Polestar 1 will have to be part of the subscription program to drive this car. This is a lease program to allow those who drive the car to enjoy it for three years with the option to choose another Polestar model after only two years of use. This could be the perfect way to enjoy this sub-brand in a car that’s a hybrid sports car that will make 600 horsepower and be able to drive for 95 miles using only electricity for the drive, making this a powerful and efficient model you’re sure to enjoy on the road.
